@George-K said in Pain perception and race: Because he’s a racist? There's a certain amount of irony associated with the whole study. He's getting funded to torture white women and boast about it afterwards. Also, I thought the phrase 'Confederate Shock' was quite funny under the circumstances.

Makes sense. Strange world where your gummies are legal in Massachusetts and California but if you put them in your suitcase on a Boston to SFO flight you're breaking the law.

@George-K you might want to change the thread title. SCOTUS decided that CFPB's funding is constitutional after all. Voted 7-2, with Clarence Thomas writing the majority opinion: https://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/23pdf/22-448_o7jp.pdf

@Doctor-Phibes said in Car Seats as Contraception: Not just the parents. When my son was about 2 and my daughter was a baby, he turned to us and said very politely and solemnly, 'I think we should take her back to the hospital now'. A friend once told me that the # of kids parents believe would make life easy is N - 1, where N is the actual number of kids you currently have. LOL When we told our 3 daughters that we were expecting a fourth, D1 (she was 4 at the time, iirc) said, "NO! Three is enough."

@Jolly said in Steel Tarriff: Personally, I look at steel, pharmaceuticals, energy and computers as strategic resources to be protected if necessary. So, you must be quite happy with President Bidens strategies in these areas: Steel - increased tariffs Energy - highest oil production ever, net exporter of oil, increasing solar and wind (which reduces dependency on other (foreign) sources) Computers - CHIP act, etc.

In all, 47 migrants have been arrested since October in the village of Oak Brook, about 20 miles west of the Second City, Chief of Police Brian Strockis told Fox News, adding many of the incidents have targeted a Macy’s in the local mall. https://x.com/ChiefWeitzel/status/1791062545287065922

This is a live performance, so warts and all, but if you like this type of music… This song strikes a special chord for me. It randomly came on the radio when I was driving with my brothers about 15 years ago, and we were jamming to it in the car, never hearing it before, but it is so incredibly infectious….cant help but move your leg to the beat. “The free speech is at its freest when it’s hate speech against the Jews”. I sorta get the point. Now do Islam, blacks, etc.

@Mik said in The Rise of the Never Bidens: Cabinet level people ARE close. Sam Brinton was "deputy assistant secretary of Spent Fuel and Waste Disposition in the Office of Nuclear Energy," many levels removed from Biden along the chain of command; I don't think this counts as "close" to Biden. Rachel Levine is the United States "assistant secretary for health" since and an admiral in the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, one level removed from Biden after the "secretary of health and human services." Even if I grant you that this counts as "close" to Biden, you still have to show that Levine is somehow "bad company."

@Axtremus said in MIT ends compulsory political statements: @Jolly said in MIT ends compulsory political statements: Never underestimate a group of pissed men with guns. The yielding of power, even violent force, is a function of technology. A 105 lb. woman with a pistol (a more advanced technology) can kill a 250 lb. man swinging a big axe (a more rudimentary technology). If the girls/women control the technology, they too will control the power, the violent force. Yeah. Sure. How many Mexican cartels are controlled by women? Is the Russian mafia staffed and controlled by women? They've got access to the same weapons and technology as the guys.
